naming

the weight of better
black or white
truth or lie
all bears
sacrifice

do i mind the sky?
do i mind trying?

spending a life away
seems a sinful waste

decades pass and still i
connect my end of the chain
why rain on fate's parade?
why wait for another day?

spelling it out
means it exists
i'm afraid
leaving it to the wind
means i'll never find it again

the simplicity of necessary
and the complication of more
it's only human to explore

and these laws of living
like dissecting a siamese
the cut must be clean
the difference between
man and god
even or odd

the choice to believe
or to overlook
to define your nook
in the cosmic scheme
call it individuality
in opportunity
i call it sacrifice

leap year

i don't like how the cold fools me

so it begins again
the spindle to a calculated year

wrapping up the filaments of god's
thread collection
maybe he could knit me a winter coat
and not let my irritabilities show
keep me warm from the frosty trenches
and up early enough to catch a worm
not a whale

exercise ideas
and get caught in the machine
my digital imprint
larger than it seems

elephants are on the rise
along with tiger bites
but i won't play donkey
to anyone's shame

the clock is ticking
the betterment beckoning the burgeoning
to blossom in time with the spring
in time to wrestle trees

all compacted into a sound mental snippet
the bytes are only paralled to the
likes of space
and god i hope my wings can fly through
